“Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It’s important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It’s the way in which we ourselves grow and develop.”
~ Dorothy Height
Our dedication to service started out in a tiny room with a handful of kids who wanted to make a positive impact in their community. Since 1992 this group has grown much bigger than we could have ever imagined. The names and faces have changed quite a bit since then, but the focus on giving our time and energy to the very community that has given so much to us remains the same.
In the beginning our service projects were very small. We began by picking up litter downtown in our surrounding neighborhood, and stopping along the way to talk to anyone and everyone we could meet. At the time we were only doing what felt good to us. We didn’t know the profound impact these experiences would have on the kids, let alone the people in our community. The smiles on the faces of the kids and our neighbors was infectious, setting in motion a tradition and culture of service that couldn’t be measured by conventional means.
Today our projects are much larger and have expanded to include fundraising for Multiple Schlerosis, Ogden City marathons, festivals, and food & clothing drives just to name a few… and yes, community wide clean-ups where it all began.
